Changing from the wireless
On my PS3, I was connected through wireless. Boy, did my connection suck! Granted I was about 30 feet between my wifi router and PS3 but my laptop worked fine at the same distance so I am unsure why it didn’t work well. Either way, I was pinging pretty slow (I would say too slow for games) and I ended up buying a Linksys AV powerline product. Granted, it was about 150 dollars (a bit pricey) but its definitely worth it. I can stream videos to my PS3 from a network drive (HD content too) and get a great gaming connection. It is pinging about 80 ms and about as fast as a lan cable (which is fantastic!). If anyone is looking, its a great buy. Dangerous Dave says so!
