StrangleHold Demo: Review and Impressions
I just played the Stranglehold demo after contemplating downloading it (okay, i know its free but still, my game playing time is very important!). I broke down and downloaded it. The install was huge 1337 megs. For some of you who think that was done purposely, your wrong and clearly a nerd. (explanation) Anyhow, as I finally start up the game, the start is pretty basic. In fact I just skipped past the whole first part and I think you will do the same after installing it. Once you start the game, you start out as Tequila and you have Tequila time. I didn’t realize Tequila was the name of the cop (your character) and I thought it was indirectly telling me to take a shot lol. Tequila time is when you go into slow motion matrix or bullet time. The controls are a little stiff but can easily be compensated by the intuitiveness of the controls. Once you get the controls down, the game is actually pretty fun. It gets better and better as you can do different moves with the digital control such as slow motion sniping with the handgun (which is always lovely) and be in a standoff with multiple guys pointing a gun at you and you have to maneuver (again in slow mo) to kill everyone. It was pretty satisfying I have to admit. I think the game needs a bit tweaking with the sliding across every damn thing in the game. I swear you can slide all around the tables like you have an oil can dripping to your buttox whenever you want to pull a slide. The game will randomly go into Tequila time in opportune moments so it gives the impression of bullet time. They even have a leap feature like bullet time from Max Payne. I will also go on a limb and say I wouldn’t buy the game if it didn’t come with the blue ray version of the movie (which it does which makes sense to cop it).
